The ZED Certification is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, aimed at promoting quality, efficiency, and environmental consciousness among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It helps businesses reduce waste, enhance productivity, and adopt sustainable practices while making them more competitive globally.
The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) model encourages MSMEs to manufacture high-quality products with zero defects (meeting global quality standards) and zero effect on the environment (eco-friendly and energy-efficient).
ZED certification is offered in three maturity levels:
Eligibility Criteria for ZED Certification
To apply for the ZED Certification, your business must meet the following conditions:
Operational Unit
Must have a functional manufacturing or service unit in India.
Minimum Operational Period
At least 1 year of business operations is generally preferred.
Willingness to Adopt Standards
Must be open to implementing quality, environmental, and operational improvements as per ZED parameters.
Other Requirements
Basic infrastructure, record-keeping systems, and commitment to improvement processes.
